Word of Mouth!
Recent testimonials from our visitors
Email from France
Hi! SA friends!
I am just a French historian preparing a paper to be read, next July, at PMB campus. Congratulation! You have a very nice and interesting website. It really makes one feel like catching the first aircraft and fly over!
I was last at Saldanha in 2002, when I read a paper at the Military/Navy Academy. I spent there a wonderfull day. I sincerely hope that your country (which, in my heart is also mine) goes better and better again.
Very kind regards.

Letter from London
"I can't express in words how wonderful our stay at Papkuilsfontein was. The only problem was the brevity of our stay, oh how i wished we had booked a whole week..!"

"I had a great time. Did far more than I planned which was no bad thing after such a long journey - it would've been a shame just to sit by the pool for a week! There was possibly too much planned and I'd like to have had more time to do the same amount of stuff, but that was my schedule not yours. The whale trip was the best..."

We work with independent travellers to:
- Design itineraries that integrate cultural, wildlife and activity safaris in Tanzania
- Provide excellent guiding to tribal areas and historical sites
- Assist photographers interested in African setting
- Support social travellers looking for homestays in the country
- Collect correct information for travel magazines and guidebooks
- Connect volunteers with local NGOs and village self-help projects
- Organize artisan tours to craft workshops and traditional recycling initiatives
Our Tours
We work with our clients beforehand to compose exciting itineraries that integrate wildlife attractions of Tanzania with experiences of rural village life plus adventures of country walks and other activities. We offer sample itineraries to guide the client at the stage of planning. Please see the samples.
Our clients travel privately in small groups accompanied by a proficient safari manager and are free to choose the type of accommodation that suits their taste and budget, including camping and homestays.
For ground transport, the clients travel in 4wd cars with removable roofs for clear game-viewing and sightseeing. Almost all tours begin in the town of Arusha in northern Tanzania where the clients spend a night after arriving on the previous evening/day through Kilimanjaro International Airport or Jomo Kenyatta Airport in Nairobi. We occasionally get clients who come through Dar es Salaam Airport, and are often interested in tours to southern Tanzania in which case Dar es Salaam City becomes the base of our tours.

At the moment the office is run by two safari planners and three tour guides out in the field.
Tatah Mlola is the CEO. He is a Tanzanian raised on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, and has been residing in the Maasai District of Monduli for the past twenty years.
After the inception of cultural tourism programme in Tanzania in 1996, he coordinated cultural activities for about five years in the villages of Mto wa Mbu beside the highway to the famous game sanctuaries of Ngorongoro and Serengeti. Within this time, he was elected onto the executive committee of Tanzania Association of Cultural Tourism Organizers, with a portfolio of information and public relations. From this experience, Tatah acquired profound skills to develop People to People Safaris.
This experience has been enhanced by the background of his profession as a history tutor and travel journalist. Currently, Tatah writes for Tantravel, the official tourism magazine of Tanzania Tourist Board and is also about to finish a book on the tribal cultures of northern Tanzania.

Standard Tanzania Safari Itinerary:
This is a standard itinerary for a meaningful introduction to the country, people and wildlife of Tanzania. Tours to about four different tribal societies enable the visitor to interact with the local people and learn much of their history. For wildlife, preference is given to the two big names; Ngorongoro and Serengeti. The itinerary is designed in a way that it can be easily supplemented with other programmes like Hanang trekking, Zanzibar holiday and Kilimajaro climb, to complete a full two week safari in Tanzania.
Day 1: Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and meet a tour guide who transfers you to a lodge in Arusha town. (Alternatively, clients can use Jomo Kenyatta Airport in Nairobi in which case, they are transferred to Arusha by a shuttle bus).
Day 2: Begin a brilliant African day with a visit to the traditional farmsteads on the green, steep slopes of Mount Meru. Admire the busy life of the villagers while crossing banana farms enjoying the mountain scenery. Optional to take lunch prepared in the village or carry a picnic box from the lodge. Remain in Arusha for the night.
Day 3: Leave very early in the morning for the vast Serengeti National Park. En route, stop at the prehistoric site of Olduvai Gorge for a picnic lunch. Overnight, Seronera, in the heart of Serengeti.
Day 4: Full day Game drive in the vast Serengeti. Remain in Serengeti for the night.
Day 5: Leave Serengeti and head for Ngorongoro to make a long Crater tour. Take a picnic lunch at the pond of hippos. Leave the crater before sunset, and head to Karatu or Mto Wa Mbu for overnight.
Day 6: Drive to Lake Eyasi to spend a day with the Hadzabe Bushmen and Barabaig herdsmen. Return to the lodge in Mto wa Mbu for overnight.
Day 7: Drive into Lake Manyara National Park for a long memorable game drive. Take a bush picnic lunch during the tour. Return to the lodge for overnight.
Day 8: Make a walking tour of Mto wa Mbu Village in the morning. Return to the Lodge for lunch. After lunch, depart for Arusha with optional stops at Meserani Snake Park and the Cultural Heritage. Either connect to the airport for evening flight, or join a supplement programme.

Ethical guidelines to the sustainable consumer:
|
- We highly discourage our clients from handing out presents in the streets because this adversely develops the habit of the locals to pestering visitors for free things.
- We ask our clients to wear decent clothes whenever we visit the local communities.
- In the national parks, we remind them not to persuade the driver to drive off the designated road for the sake of photography or other interests. We show them that they have to follow the park regulations of Tanzania National Parks wherever they go for game-drives.
- Both men and women are employed in the programmes and we avoid exploitation of child labour.

Tailor made options per theme or season:

Cultural Photographic Tours - Select excursions enable visitors to get into some of the remotest parts of Tanzania to get the last snap of the fading traditional Africa. The visitor is accompanied by a local amateur photographer who guides the tour, with reciprocal expectations of learning new skills from the visitor. The price depends on the length of the tour and size of the group.
Students' Programme - This is a special programme for college students from abroad who intend to make an exciting group or individual visit to Tanzania. The programme has opportunity for both the groups that come for a mere holiday break and those that beside the holiday have educational purposes to fulfill. Budget price, depending on duration of the programme and size of the group.
Homestays - We have a handful of selected homes where visitors who want to experience real Tanzanian life can opt to stay. All homes have English-speaking members of the family. Through experience, visitors who stay for more than two weeks opt to do some community work. For this case, we arrange activities in schools, youth groups, women self-help projects and health centres according to the visitors preference.
