Word of Mouth!
Recent testimonials from our visitors
Email from France
Hi! SA friends!
I am just a French historian preparing a paper to be read, next July, at PMB campus. Congratulation! You have a very nice and interesting website. It really makes one feel like catching the first aircraft and fly over!
I was last at Saldanha in 2002, when I read a paper at the Military/Navy Academy. I spent there a wonderfull day. I sincerely hope that your country (which, in my heart is also mine) goes better and better again.
Very kind regards.

Letter from London
"I can't express in words how wonderful our stay at Papkuilsfontein was. The only problem was the brevity of our stay, oh how i wished we had booked a whole week..!"

"I had a great time. Did far more than I planned which was no bad thing after such a long journey - it would've been a shame just to sit by the pool for a week! There was possibly too much planned and I'd like to have had more time to do the same amount of stuff, but that was my schedule not yours. The whale trip was the best..."

Shark cage diving is a full day trip. We do pick-ups in Cape Town every day. It is a two hour drive to Kleinbaai, near Gansbaai.
Marine Dynamics staff will meet our clients at the Great White House in Kleinbaai before the trip. There are bathroom facilities, as well as a restaurant and gift shop. Kleinbaai is a residential suburb of Gansbaai, with its own slipway. We are situated approximately 180km south east of Cape Town (driving time approximately 2 hours).
Breakfast (included in the price) is provided at the restaurant before we launch. Our resident Marine Biologist do a presentation before each trip in our conservation and education room. Passengers are fitted with comfortable inflatable life-jackets, and if needed weather jackets. Safety is the most important part of our business. We also have extensive public liability insurance.
We usually launch around 09:00 in the morning (note that launching times may vary due to tide and weather conditions), arriving at the anchoring spot in 20 to 25 minutes. The anchor is lowered, the cage goes into the water, a scent trail is made, and we settle down. Final preparations for the diving are made, and the rest of the day we spend watching, diving and experiencing the unique white shark.
After about 3 to 4 hours, depending on the day, we head back to land. Should the client wish to return to shore earlier a shuttle can be arranged at an additional cost.

Conservation involvement:

|
Wilfred Chivell, owner of Dyer Island Cruises and Marine Dynamics, is certainly the most knowledgeable person about the ecosystem and varied wildlife found on and around Dyer Island.
His care and dedication for the health of this sensitive ecosystem have lead to the launch of different conservation projects for the area:
- 'Faces of Need - Artificial Penguin Nest Project' which aims at creating 2000 artificial nests on Dyer Island by 2008.
- Over the years his 'Bird Rescue Initiative' have made him the prime transporters of injured and oiled marine birds from the island to shore, where they would be transported to SANCOB.
- The 'Marine Litter Project' aims to educate the public and local community about the devastating results of pollution on wildlife while also initiating cleanups of the coast.
- Support the research fieldwork conducted by the White Shark Trust during 2006 in allowing the population information to be gathered from Shark Fever.
- NOLWANDLE CRAFTS: Our own community project in Masakhane. We trained 22 ladies out of the local community to manufacture bead work, clothing, etc. The British High Commission is a sponsor of this project.
