The Culture Exploration
Standard Tour (14h00 - 17h30)
The genuine kindness and simplicity of life is striking when venturing out into the more remote rural areas - contentment with life is the word that springs to mind. The people of Swaziland welcome visitors and gladly share a little of their day-to-day lives. Taman Tours manages and facilitates such visits. We understand much of the culture, and visitors will be well briefed in order to avoid uncomfortable situations and to enjoy a memorable visit. Also leave with a sense of contribution, as a portion of your payment goes towards certain projects that the community is undertaking, as a token of appreciation of sharing their lives with you for brief, but memorable moments.
The tour kicks off with a visit to the bustling Manzini market, the first opportunity to meet some Swazi people as they are hard at work, earning a living by putting up all sorts of goods for sale. Continue on to the fruit and vegetable market of Mahlanya, where the opportunity will also be given to taste a typical Swazi delicacy, namely fire-roasted mealies (corn on a cob).
A visit to chief Hlophe and his family in the Mdzimba Mountains will be the highlight of the tour, ending off with sundowner drinks at the most scenic of viewpoints overlooking the Ezulwini Valley (the Valley of Heaven).
Guaranteed Tour Series Groups (16h00 - 18h00)
As per the above, with the difference of raw mealies being purchased at Mahlanya and taken to chief's homestead to be roasted there whilst touring around and learning more about the village. Enjoy the opportunity of interacting with the people in the village, taste some "pap" and also the mealies that are roasted on the fire.
