The Slipway Waterfront Restaurant is at the edge of the tranquil waters of Saldanha Bay harbour (open 7 days a week). The Slipway's very own yacht, Sailtrader (plus a water taxi), stand at the ready to transport visitors around the harbour or out to sea, at your leisure.

The yacht and boat charters started in December 1990 and the Slipway Restaurant opened on 29 November 1992.
Mouthwatering oysters and mussels, home-grown in the bay, are our specialty. The options for mussels are limitless - from mussel and bacon bites, mussels in wine, or sweet' n sour sauce ... you won't be disappointed!
We serve fresh line fish, calamari (rings or steaks), pastas, plus the best steaks on the West Coast.
The private "Bill Henry" bar is fully licensed. The bar is named after two local Saldanha people who inspired Robert and Diane Schaafsma to the challenges of entrepreneurship and the love for Saldanha Bay.

Robert Schaafsma has a great love for the sea. He did a lot of fishing, surfing and diving when he was younger. In Saldanha Bay his passion changed to sailing and he built a couple of deep-sea sailing and -fishing boats. In 1980 he built a yacht, the Sailtrader (13, 6 metre), which he used in 1984 to circum-navigate Africa with his wife and 3 children for a period of 3 years. Back in Saldanha Bay in 1987 he built the specially designed Sailfisher (15 metre) sailing and fishing yacht which he used for commercial Deep Sea Fishing at Sea Mount Vema (550 nautical miles off the coast of Saldanha Bay). - from "Boat Builders History"
