Game and bird viewing
Camdeboo National Park (5km outside town): Malaria free - This National Park was proclaimed as South Africa's 22nd National Park in October 2005. Twenty four kilometers of gravel roads offer the tourists a chance to sight 43 mammal species of which 13 are carnivores. At least 225 bird species have been recorded in the Park.
The Valley of Desolation (14km from town) is a national monument and the premier tourtist attraction in the Camdeboo National Park. Experience the breathtaking view of piled dolerite columns against the backdrop of the plains of the Great Karoo.
Six picnic sites are placed throughout the Park with a panoramic view and a place to rest in a natural setting.
Mountain Zebra National Park: Situated 135km from Graaff-Reinet near Cradock.

Walking Trails
All situated in the Camdeboo National Park.
- The Crag Lizard Trail: 1,5km trail that starts at the parking area of the Valley of Desolation.
- Eerstefontein Day Walk: Hikers have a choice of 3 route options of 5km, 11km or 14km. The trail starts at Spandaukop Gate.
- Driekoppe Overnight Hiking Trial: The Waaihoek Trail Hut accommodates 10 people. 4x4 Vehicle owners have the option of driving up to the overnight hut.
