"Conservation is the best way for using our earth"
C1 Conservation: Responsible natural and cultural environmental resource management of my place/kontrei
- Removed all livestock from veld to eliminate overgrazing.
- We have stopped farming practices that use lots of water.
- Stopped all harvesting of firewood.
- Participate in leopard research project.
- Participate in reptile research project.
- Member of the Cederberg conservancy.
- We purchase harvested exotic wood (Australian Black Wattle) for fire wood.
- We stopped farming practises that require a lot of water and planted crops that require much less water.
- Household effluents are discarded into proper drain systems which are constructed according to Cape Nature guidelines.

- We have restored all the buildings, kraals, etc at Keurbosfontein into its traditional styles.
- We "restored" old trees like fig, pear, almond, etc., some almost 150 years old.
- We have restored all the buildings at Ou Werf.
- New buildings were all built in the traditional style.
C2 Community: Optimal, fair host community procurement
- All installations, building, improvements, maintenance, services and farming activities are done by local personnel, craftsmen and contractors.
- All outside products, equipment, produce and products are sourced from or via local growers, producers or stockists.
- Personnel get 2 to 4 times minimum prescribed salaries, plus 2 to 4 bedroom high quality thatched houses on the farm, with fully equipped kitchens and bathrooms.
- Contractors and craftsmen are from local Wupperthal missionary and are used exclusively for almost all improvements and ongoing maintenance.
